This is the 2nd president's message for 2012. There have been no board meetings
since the last message, however, one will be scheduled in late June to discuss
the feast day celebration to be held in late August.

next version of myCSBA at Ustica.org written but not fully tested yet. As I
mentioned in my previous address, I will attempt to do a webcast when I release
the new version to the membership so we can review new features. I'm hoping
we can set up some regular webcasts to make the member experience more interactive
and to help everyone get the most out of the website. You can track the progress
of new data to Ustica.org at www.ustica.org/genealogy in the Change Reports
section. New data includes research by me and CSBA Membership Chair, Larie
Tedesco. Larie is researching CSBA member families and I have been doing general
research by surname. All new obituaries of Usticesi descendants appearing in
the NO Times Picayune are also included.
who have mentioned they are travelling to Ustica this year. CSBA Outreach Chair,
Loella Barrileau, and member Marlene Robershaw, please let us know how it goes!
Marlene has arranged to play the organ at the church in Ustica. Those of you
who attended her party in honor of Pietro and Pina Bertucci in San Diego (February
2011), will remember what a wonderful pianist she is. Loella brought back some
Usticesi Lentils on her last visit and we'll raffle those off at the feast day
celebration in August. I have several bags, so I'll make sure they are split
between those in attendance and other members who can't make it.
The Centro Studi will host an exhibition on immigration this summer. Each year
during the high tourist season, this cultural society based in Ustica displays
an exhibition at their office/museum just off the main piazza in Ustica. Obviously,
the American community of Usticesi descendants will feature prominently in the
exhibit and they will have a computer workstation available where visitors can
explore Ustica.org. Plans are to make the exhibition mobile so hopefully it
can make the rounds here in the US too.
a statement from the American Italian Federation of the Southeast for annual
dues May 1, 2011 thru April 30, 2012. A little late to be asking for annual
dues but in their defense, no one from CSBA has been attending the AIFSE quarterly
meetings either. The CSBA joined in 2010 because we felt that we should interact
with other Italian-American organizations and AIFSE is a sort of "umbrella"
group representing the interests of all I-A groups in Louisiana and Mississippi.
I still believe we should participate at this minimum level but the whole dynamic
of the regional I-A community continues to elude me. We'll take this up at
the next board meeting.
or report news at the Message Board at Ustica.org. Everyone's input is welcome
and truly helps steer the agenda of the CSBA.
