Cari amici, to share my experiences and some pictures with you. My stay was from August 8th through August 30th. My primary reason for going to Ustica during this time was to attend the Saint I've attend our Feast Day celebrations in New Orleans and even though these are good events, I often wondered what it would be like to attend the celebration in Ustica. Saint Bartolomeo! From the beginning of the Mass until the end of the procession, I found it to be a uniting experience. Another reason was to spend enough time on the island so I could experience day to day life - like all of us - dealing with day to day issues. However, during my stay, I felt life to be uncomplicated. People take the time to greet and talk with each other no matter what time of day and enjoy what they have. They are warm and friendly and want you to feel welcomed. Another reason was to find and connect with some of the people who are part of my family's ancestry. As it turned out, this was the highlight of my stay. I was introduced to many who share my family's heritage. It was my pleasure to meet them and feel part of my larger family. If you are planning a trip to Ustica and think I can be of help, please contact me at
