I want to more about my great-grandfather, Charles Spano, side of the family.
He was born in New Orleans and ran away to Houston, changing his last name to
DuGas (Charles Spano DuGas). My father and his siblings said he would never
speak about why he ran away and what was the point of changing the name.
His father was Anthony Spano born in Ustica and his Mother was Geatana
Toronto born in New Orleans. Both died in New Orleans.
I don't
really know any more than that.
