Please email me if you are still interested in finding out about that branch of the Lavia Family in New Orleans - I am decedent of Margherita Taranto as well - she had at least 2 other children with Giovanni Lavia (Later went by Jack Lavier). Nicolas had a brother named Antonio and a sister named Mary Concetta (She went by Concetta when she was younger, but started using Mary more when she got older). in all the records and it has taken several years for me to trace Mary Concetta (My 2nd Great Grandmother) to Margherita Taranto and Giovanni Lavia definitively. Different spellings include Lavia, Lavin, Lavier, Lavria, and a few more I can't think of off the top of my head. I haven't done an official genealogy, but this is what I have found so far... with Angelo Milto (Peter Angelo Milto, John Joseph Milto, Katie/Caterina Milto Phillips, Adam Felix Milto, and Gabriel Milto). I do not know if Antonio had any children. He did get married but died a few short years afterwards. neither Concetta nor Antonio are - I haven't been able to figure out why. They may have been born elsewhere or here in the States. I was finally able to connect Antonio and Concetta to Marghreta and Giovanni because their marriage records very clearly have them listed as their parents on the hard copies. In one of the records I found it said Mary Concetta was a native of Catanguia, Italy - which keeps getting autocorrected to Catania, Sicily in Google. So who knows...I will continue looking for answers.
