It is not uncommon for town names to be surnames in Italy, but that doesn't mean the person comes from that town. For example, my grandmother was a Messina, but she was from Ustica. Other surnames like Roma, Napoli, Puglia are found throughout Italy. of Ustica today. Maybe many years ago, one of your ancestors left the island and took the surname Ustica, but who knows? If you really want to know why your last name is Ustica, you should do some genealogical research. The Italians have good genealogical records back to the early 19th century, and most have been microfilmed by the Mormon Family History Library.
