Ms Gallo,
If your Italian relative left Italy before the unification
of 1861, then you’ll be approved. Bc of my ancestors Felice and Felicie Favaloro,
my family can get dual citizenship, per Italian lawyer Marco Permunian and also
Michele Capecchi. Depending on your location and consulate, the process takes
approx 1-5 years. I think New Orleans residents have to take a one-time trip
to the Houston consulate and the processing a few years ago during COVID’s height
was about 1 1/2 years. Permunian was a tad cheaper than Capecchi, but both around
10k for them to pretty much do all the leg work except signatures etc (this
was in 2020). But if you have a bundle of relatives who want dual citizenship,
y’all can share the expense and it can go down to 3-4k. Hope this helps! PS.
I’ve connected best with other common relatives who are interested in dual citizenship
thru 23andMe.
