Two years earlier, in 1912, I found the obituary for his brother Charles who was the Calogero DiSimone that we saw in that very first record of an Ustican in New Orleans in 1848. He too is lauded as a California pioneer indicating that the family left New Orleans early and just as Usticans were being attracted to the growing community in New Orleans, the same dynamic was happening in California. A lot of our current day members are West Coast descendants of this early immigrant community in California.
