The Back Dock

The back dock lies behind town near the cemetery and Faraglioni. Passengers arrive at the port in town but larger boats with cars and freight dock here for unloading. Garbage trucks simply drive onboard after the ship has been unloaded. The garbage must be processed somewhere in mainland Sicily.

A large boat unloads at the back dock. The mountain behind the ship is Falconiera and that steep cliff near the ocean is aptly named Dead Man's Point. The eastern lighthouse lies above the point. Also at sea level just west of the lighthouse is where watse water is treated and released into the ocean.
